FAQs and How-to
  • Hardware issues
The modulation lever of the XP-30 really sucks. You need to press it very hard and it is mor an on/off switch. So you better assign one slider to modulation.
    - Afternow some years, I realized, that if you only use it often and hard enough, it eventually gets more easy to use.
The power plug is a special Roland model, so you can't use standard cable and have to be aware of it when gigging.

  • Programing the synth
Many hints of how to program a good sound, adding more than the 3 built-in effects and so on can be found among the LINKS. However, due to the manual that is very bad, I will expose here the best tipps to program the XPs fast and easily.

  • Computer problems
The midi implementation is good in the JV/XP-series. To hook the synth up to your PC be sure to set the switch on"Midi" and restart your synth. When using it via the serial cable. set it to Mac or PC-2 an install the driver listed in the download section.
On my setup, however, I have transmission problems with the serial cable, no idea why.

  • Live on stage

So you can real-time control the 2 parameters of your Effects in EYERY Patch and additionally assign SYS-CTRL1 and 2 to specific changes in the Patch->Control Section. more...
