About the XP-30 and others
There has been a long ongoing discussion on harmony-central.com and in the newsgroups about the differences between the synths of the JV/XP series. In the Links section, there are good pages comparing them.

In short: The XP-30 (details here) is the newest of the XP-series (it's from 1999).
To help you to decide between the XPs here are the main differences:
